Created by John R. Dilworth in 1999 for Cartoon Network, the animated series Courage the Cowardly Dog recounts the tragicomic adventures of a small , particularly timid anthropomorphic purple dog. Living on an isolated farm in the middle of nowhere (the fictional town of Nowhere, Kansas) with his owners Muriel and Eustace Bagge, Courage must constantly overcome his phobias to save them from paranormal apparitions, monsters and eccentric criminals. Among them is Le Quack, an unscrupulous French duck specialising in fraud, armed robbery and hypnosis. Whether posing as an amnesia specialist or a television repairman, he systematically seeks to fleece the elderly couple of their possessions. Only Courage sees through his malicious nature, leading to memorable showdowns in which Le Quack always ends up fleeing, vowing revenge.
