Origin and character lore

Twisted Metal is a series of motorised combat games in which various drivers battle it out in heavily armed vehicles. Each participant takes part in a tournament organised by the mysterious Calypso, who promises to grant the winner’s wish – often in a cruel or unpredictable manner.

Originally released on PlayStation, Twisted Metal 2 expands the tournament to several major cities around the world. The arenas become battlefields where competitors use missiles, machine guns, mines and special attacks to destroy their opponents.

Sweet Tooth is one of the franchise’s most famous characters. Behind this name lies Needles Kane, a violent criminal usually depicted wearing a clown mask and sporting flaming hair. His menacing appearance contrasts with his vehicle: an ice-cream van decorated in childlike colours.
