Relive the decisive battle against Cell with this articulated figurine of Super Saiyan Son Gohan, from Bandai Tamashii Nations’ S.H.Figuarts range. Entitled ‘The Fighter Who Surpassed Goku’, this version depicts the young Saiyan during the Cell Games arc, when he reveals a power capable of surpassing that of his father.

The figure captures Gohan’s appearance with his spiky golden hair, purple dōgi, blue belt and brown shoes. Completely redesigned compared to previous versions of the character, it features a modern articulation system that allows for dynamic combat poses and scenes directly inspired by the anime.

Flexible parts are used in the torso and crotch areas to improve the range of movement. Gohan can thus adopt various martial stances, brace himself against the ground or position his arms in front of him to prepare an energy attack. An interchangeable head with hair swept back also allows you to simulate the effect of the wind or the power unleashed during combat.

The figure comes with a fabric cape featuring a built-in metal frame. This can be adjusted and held in various positions to replicate its movement. This is the first fabric cape to be included with a figure from the S.H.Figuarts Dragon Ball series.

Four interchangeable faces are included: a calm expression, a screaming face, a clenched-teeth expression, and a face capturing the moment when Gohan lets his anger explode. Four pairs of hands also allow for a variety of poses and techniques. Measuring approximately 11 cm, this figurine, made from ABS, PVC and fabric, can be displayed on its own or alongside other characters from the Cell arc.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Son Gohan is the eldest son of Son Goku and Chichi. Although he does not naturally share his father’s passion for fighting, he has possessed exceptional potential since childhood, which manifests itself when he feels particularly strong emotions. Piccolo becomes his first true mentor and helps him develop his abilities before the arrival of the Saiyans.

During the Cell arc, Goku realises that Gohan’s latent power could exceed his own. He therefore chooses Gohan to face Cell in the Cell Games. Gohan is initially reluctant to fight seriously, as he fears losing control of his anger and hurting others.

The destruction of C-16 and the suffering inflicted on his friends ultimately trigger his transformation into a Super Saiyan 2. His energy surges dramatically, his hair stands on end even more, and bolts of lightning surround his aura. Gohan thus becomes the first fighter to achieve this transformation in the story and temporarily surpasses Goku, Vegeta and Cell.

This figurine depicts Gohan just before and during this major turning point. His cape is a reminder of his training with Piccolo, whilst his various expressions allow you to recreate both his initial calm and the burst of anger that reveals his full power.
