Origin and background of the character

Alecto Carrow is a pure-blood witch and an active Death Eater, working alongside her brother Amycus. A loyal supporter of Lord Voldemort, she was part of the assault group present at the top of the Astronomy Tower at the time of Albus Dumbledore’s death. During the Second Wizarding War, following the takeover of Hogwarts by the forces of evil, she is appointed Professor of Muggle Studies. She misuses this position to teach the school’s pupils hatred and submission towards non-magical people.
