Kingsley Shacklebolt is a powerful wizard employed by the Ministry of Magic, where he initially works as an Auror. Convinced of Voldemort’s return, he joins the Order of the Phoenix in 1995 and carries out crucial undercover work within the Ministry. He supplies the organisation with secret information and actively sabotages the authorities’ efforts to locate Sirius Black. During the summer of 1995, he is part of the security detail that retrieves Harry Potter from the Dursleys’ home to escort him to 12 Grimmauld Place. In 1996, he takes part in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, where he confronts Bellatrix Lestrange following Sirius’s death, but is defeated by the formidable witch.
