Kuromi is a Sanrio character recognisable by her black or purple headdress featuring pointed ears and adorned with a pink skull. Despite her rebellious appearance and penchant for pranks, she also has a sensitive side and particularly enjoys romantic stories.

She is often portrayed as the rival of My Melody, whose gentler, pastel-coloured world contrasts with Kuromi’s assertive temperament. However, this rivalry remains light-hearted and humorous, as the two characters share the same universe without being true enemies.

The skull on her headdress sometimes changes expression depending on her mood and is one of her most recognisable symbols.
