Origin and character lore

Derpy Tiger is a large, supernatural blue tiger from the demon world. Despite his imposing size, fangs and potentially intimidating appearance, he is best known for his clumsy behaviour, exaggerated expressions and affectionate nature.

He regularly travels in the company of Sussie Bird, a strange six-eyed bird who looks after him and accompanies him on his journeys between the demon world and the human world. Their duo brings a significant element of humour to the story.

The appearance of Derpy Tiger and Sussie Bird is inspired by traditional Korean folk paintings that typically pair a tiger with a magpie. In these depictions, the tiger often adopts a naive or comical expression, whilst the bird plays the role of a more attentive observer.
