Origin and character background (Lore)

Kuromi is a character created by Sanrio and presented as My Melody’s self-proclaimed rival. She is recognisable by her dark headdress with long ears, adorned with a pink skull whose expression can change depending on her mood.

Behind her rebellious appearance and sometimes boisterous behaviour, Kuromi has a romantic and sensitive personality. She particularly enjoys writing in her diary, reading love stories and cultivating an image that is at once gothic, mischievous and kawaii.

Kuromi is often accompanied by Baku, a purple tapir capable of flight. Together, they feature notably in the *Onegai My Melody* universe, where their schemes regularly lead to chaotic situations for My Melody and her friends.
