OHRAI NORIYOSHI POSTER - Mechagodzilla - Figure Chogokin 17cm

This new edition builds on the concept of the version released in 2017 whilst featuring a reworked colour scheme that is brighter and has a slight blue tinge.

Above all, the figure retains the mechanical system that makes this version so special: three separate units — Garuda, Gandharva and Naga — can transform and combine to form Mechagodzilla. This concept directly draws on the design conceived for Noriyoshi Ohrai’s illustration and gives this piece a particularly spectacular presence within the Chogokin range.

Made from ABS, PVC and die-cast metal, the figure boasts the solid, substantial presence typical of the Chogokin range. A stand for Garuda is also included to allow for varied display configurations.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Mechagodzilla is one of Godzilla’s most famous adversaries. Depending on the era of the franchise, he is depicted as a robot built to fight the King of the Monsters, with origins and technologies that vary from one incarnation to another.

This particular version is based on an illustration by Noriyoshi Ohrai, a Japanese artist famous for his film posters and extremely detailed compositions. The design reimagines Mechagodzilla as a robot composed of three distinct vehicles: Garuda, Gandharva and Naga, capable of merging to form the complete mecha.

The first Chogokin adaptation of this illustration was released in 2017 under the name CHOGOKIN TAMASHII MIX Mechagodzilla (Ohrai Noriyoshi Poster Ver.). The current version retains this engineering whilst replacing the original matt silver finish with a shinier silver with bluish highlights.
