Origin and world of the character
Tony-Tony Chopper is the official ship's doctor of the Straw Hat Crew in the hugely successful manga and animated series One Piece, created by legendary mangaka Eiichiro Oda in 1997. Chopper is originally a young blue-nosed reindeer rejected by his herd on the winter island of Drum. His life changes radically when he eats the Human Fruit (Hito Hito no Mi), a Zoan-type Demon Fruit that gives him human intelligence as well as the ability to speak and metamorphose. Trained in medicine by his spiritual mentors, Doctors Hiluluk and Kureha, he joins Luffy on his journey to design a miracle cure capable of curing all the world's diseases. Despite his very low capture bounty due to the Navy's mistaken belief that he is merely the crew's harmless mascot, Chopper is a formidable fighter and the cutest emotional pillar of the licence.
