Character background and universe (Lore)

Marin Kitagawa is the main heroine of My Dress-Up Darling, also known in French as Sexy Cosplay Doll. A popular, outgoing schoolgirl with a passion for manga, games and anime, she is particularly passionate about cosplay.

Despite her enthusiasm, Marin isn’t actually very skilled at making costumes. Her meeting with Wakana Gojo completely changes the situation. Wakana is a quiet high school student who dreams of becoming a hina doll craftsman and, thanks to this passion, has strong sewing skills. The two then begin to work together to bring to life the characters Marin wishes to portray.

Shizuku Kuroe, nicknamed Shizuku-tan, plays a particularly important role in this story. She is a character from the fictional game *Slippery Girls 2* and is one of Marin’s favourite characters. The anime’s official website explicitly features Marin in her Shizuku Kuroe cosplay.

Creating this costume becomes one of Marin and Wakana’s first major joint projects. To bring it to life, Gojo has to understand the materials, proportions and numerous details of the outfit in order to transform a virtual appearance into a real, wearable costume.

Above all, this project brought the two of them closer together. Marin discovered Wakana’s talent and dedication, whilst he gradually began to open up to a world he had previously known little about.

Shizuku’s cosplay thus becomes much more than just a costume: it symbolises the start of their collaboration on cosplay and their personal relationship. Crunchyroll describes it as their first collaboration and as one of the most important costumes for Marin.
