SHREK - Donkey - Double Keychain

Origin and character background (Lore)

Donkey is a particularly chatty, enthusiastic and optimistic character from the Shrek universe. He meets the ogre whilst the latter is trying to escape from Lord Farquaad’s soldiers and immediately decides to accompany him, despite Shrek’s numerous attempts to carry on alone.

During their journey to rescue Princess Fiona, Donkey gradually becomes Shrek’s best friend. His sociable personality and boundless energy contrast with the ogre’s solitary and gruff nature, but his loyalty plays a vital role in their adventure. DreamWorks officially presents the Donkey as the endearing companion who helps Shrek rescue Fiona and reclaim his swamp.

Donkey also befriends the Dragon tasked with guarding Fiona’s tower. Their relationship gives rise to several little hybrids, often called ‘Drons’, which possess both the characteristics of a donkey and those of a dragon.

Behind his jokes and his inability to keep quiet, Donkey proves himself to be brave, caring and always ready to support his friends. He thus accompanies Shrek on his various adventures and becomes one of the most recognisable characters in the saga.
