The famous protocol droid C-3POjoins Hasbro’s Star Wars: The Black Series collection in a version inspired by the 1985 animated series Star Wars: Droids. This edition recreates the character’s retro, colourful look as depicted in the animated series chronicling the adventures of C-3PO and R2-D2.

Standing approximately 15 cm tall, the figure features detailed sculpting and a design directly inspired by the series’ graphic style. Its golden body has a more uniform and stylised finish than the realistic versions from the films, whilst its abdominal cables and the various plates of its mechanical armour are meticulously reproduced.

Thanks to its multiple points of articulation, C-3PO can be posed in a variety of display positions. Character background and universe (Lore)

C-3PO is a protocol droid designed to facilitate communication between different civilisations. Capable of mastering over six million forms of communication, he regularly acts as a translator, interpreter and adviser to the heroes of the Star Wars saga.

Originally built by the young Anakin Skywalker on the planet Tatooine, C-3PO is subsequently drawn into the major events that shake the galaxy to its core. In particular, he accompanies Padmé Amidala during the final days of the Republic, before serving the Organa family and then the Rebel Alliance alongside his faithful companion R2-D2.

Unlike the daring R2-D2, C-3PO is generally cautious, anxious and very keen to adhere to protocol. His talkative nature and dramatic reactions add a significant comic element to their adventures, even when they find themselves in particularly dangerous situations.

The animated series *Star Wars: Droids*, which began airing in 1985, is set before the events of *Star Wars: A New Hope*. It follows C-3PO and R2-D2 as they serve various masters and find themselves caught up in missions involving pirates, criminals, pilots and Imperial forces.

In this series, the two droids take centre stage in the story rather than merely accompanying the main human heroes. C-3PO constantly tries to maintain a semblance of order and security, whilst R2-D2’s curiosity and initiative lead them into new adventures.
