The back features the same level of detail as the front. Long, vine-like tendrils from the World Upside Down descend from the head and extend across the shoulders, arms and torso. The sculpture thus highlights Vecna’s gradual fusion with the organic environment of this parallel dimension.

Origin and backstory of the character (Lore)

Vecna is the main antagonist revealed during the fourth series of Stranger Things. Before his transformation, he was Henry Creel, a child with powerful telekinetic and telepathic abilities. Following the tragic events at his family home, he was entrusted to Dr Martin Brenner and became the first test subject at the Hawkins National Laboratory, known as ‘One’.

Henry later attempts to manipulate Eleven into removing the device that limits his powers. After slaughtering the other test subjects and some of the laboratory staff, he confronts the girl. She manages to hurl him into a parallel dimension, where his body is scorched and distorted by the electrical and organic phenomena surrounding him.

Over the years, Henry becomes Vecna and forms a deep bond with the Upside-Down. His body merges with the vines that criss-cross this dimension, whilst his mental faculties allow him to penetrate the memories of his victims, exploit their traumas and kill them from a distance.

Every murder committed in Hawkins helps to open a new rift between the two worlds. The organic appearance of this bust precisely illustrates this transformation: Vecna is no longer merely a transformed human, but a creature directly integrated into the living network and collective consciousness of the Upside-Down.
