ARMORED CORE VI - Crest CR-C75U2 Close Quarters - Model Kit 16cm

Discover the Crest CR-C75U2 Close Quarters Ver., a model kit from the ARMORED CORE universe, released by Kotobukiya as part of its V.I. Series (Variable Infinity). This heavy Crest unit is designed for medium- and short-range combat, with a configuration directly inspired by the machine featured in the opening cutscene of ARMORED CORE 3.

Once assembled, the model stands approximately 16 cm tall on a 1/72 scale. Its armament comprises a WR04M-PIXIE2 machine gun, a CR-WL69LB laser blade, a WB04M-NYMPHE2 small missile system and a CR-WB78GL grenade launcher, complemented by the CR-E90AM2 extension. Two types of hands are also included to customise the mecha’s pose.

This reissue features a new mould, with revised part division and sprue layout, whilst retaining compatibility with V.I. Series standards. The strength of several components has also been improved compared to the previous version of the kit.

Model’s origin and universe (Lore)

The CR-C75U2 Close Quarters Ver. appears in the opening cutscene of ARMORED CORE 3. It utilises a chassis designed by Crest, one of the major industrial groups within the game’s universe, and features a configuration specifically tailored for close- and medium-range combat.

In ARMORED CORE, the machines known as Armored Cores are highly customisable mechas whose various parts — head, torso, arms, legs, weapons and additional equipment — can be swapped out to adapt their performance to different combat styles.

This configuration of the CR-C75U2 favours a combination of weapons capable of engaging targets at various ranges: the machine gun and laser blade cover close-quarters combat, whilst the missiles and grenade launcher provide additional firepower against more distant or heavily armoured opponents.

This model kit is therefore a detailed reproduction of an iconic mecha from the ARMORED CORE 3 era, whilst retaining the modular design characteristic of Kotobukiya’s Variable Infinity range.
