Origin and character’s universe

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a role-playing game set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe. In the game, the player assembles a group of companions whose stories, relationships and destinies evolve according to the decisions made throughout the adventure.

Astarion is a cunning High Elf who was turned into a vampire by his master, Cazador Szarr. For nearly two centuries, he has been forced to obey his master and lure victims into his palace. The events of the game allow him to temporarily escape his master’s control and seek his freedom.

His personal story leads the group to the ritual of Profane Ascension prepared by Cazador. Depending on the choices made by the player, Astarion may renounce the ritual or perform it himself in order to become an Ascendant Vampire.

This transformation grants him superior vampiric powers, but also alters his behaviour, his ambitions and his relationship with the rest of the group. This figurine depicts precisely this alternative evolution of the character.
