Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (or simply MW3) is a first-person shooter video game jointly developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, with Raven Software providing the multiplayer, and published by Activision in November 2011. Treyarch brought the game to Wii, and n-Space developed another version for Nintendo DS, subtitled Defiance.
The eighth instalment in the Call of Duty series, it follows on from Call of Duty: Black Ops. Initial articles on the subject point to an almost identical interface and objective-based progression.
Modern Warfare 3 broke sales records on the day it went on sale, selling over 9.3 million units. In all, the game sold 31.01 million units, beating its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops, whichsold 30.90 million units.
