CHARACTER BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT
Introduced by Pixar Studios in 2006, Flash McQueen (Lightning McQueen in the original version) is a red racing car bearing the number 95. His hybrid design is inspired by the lines of NASCAR cars and sports models such as the Chevrolet Corvette C6. Initially characterised by his individual ambition during the Piston Cup, the character evolves over the course of the film trilogy following his time in the isolated town of Radiator Springs, situated on Route 66. There, he discovers the spirit of teamwork and the importance of local motoring history, and becomes a mentor to a new generation of drivers.
