Character background and universe (Lore)

Angel Devil, or the Angel-Demon, is a demon and member of Special Section 4 of the Public Safety Bureau in the Chainsaw Man universe. Unlike most demons, he does not naturally harbour hostility towards humans.

His appearance perfectly illustrates the paradox of his existence: he has a human form, a halo and large wings reminiscent of an angel, whilst in reality he is a demon born of the fear associated with angels.

Angel Devil, however, possesses a particularly dangerous power . Any direct physical contact with him drains part of the affected person’s life expectancy. This ability explains, in particular, why he generally avoids contact with other members of the Public Security Bureau.

The life energy thus recovered can then be used to create various supernatural weapons. The greater the number of years sacrificed, the more powerful the weapons he can produce become.

His temperament stands in stark contrast to this deadly ability. Angel Devil is generally calm, apathetic and unenthusiastic about the idea of working or fighting. He also has a much less aggressive attitude towards humans than most other demons.

He is notably associated with Aki Hayakawa, with whom he gradually develops a relationship of trust despite their differences. This closeness reveals a much more human side to the character and plays an important role in his development.

In *Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc*, Angel Devil appears amongst the Public Security members involved in the events surrounding Denji and Reze. The film’s official website correctly identifies him as a member of Special Section 4, whose mere physical contact drains humans of their lifespan.
