Character background and universe (Lore)

Momo Ayase is one of the main protagonists of Dandadan, a manga created by Yukinobu Tatsu. A strong-willed student, she finds herself caught up in a series of extraordinary events involving paranormal phenomena, aliens, spirits and creatures from Japanese folklore.

Unlike Okarun, who initially believes in aliens but not in ghosts, Momo is convinced of the existence of spirits whilst remaining sceptical about alien phenomena. Their determination to prove their respective beliefs soon leads them to discover that both types of phenomenon do indeed exist.

As the story unfolds, Momo develops powerful psychic abilities, notably the power to manipulate a form of spiritual energy in the shape of invisible hands. Brave, outspoken and particularly protective of her loved ones, she quickly becomes one of the pillars of the group as they face the many supernatural threats that punctuate the series.
