Narrative context and universe (Lore)
In the world ofDandadan, Ken Takakura (nicknamed Okarun by his friend Momo Ayase in reference to the occult) is a high school student with a passion for paranormal phenomena, aliens and conspiracy theories. His narrative arc takes a radical turn when he accepts a challenge set by Momo, leading him to visit a haunted tunnel where he finds himself possessed by a Japanese folklore entity.This possession by ‘Turbo Baba’ grants him supernatural powers. When he activates this curse, Okarun undergoes a physical transformation that allows him to achieve extraordinary speeds and brute strength, whilst temporarily altering his usual temperament, shy and reserved, towards a much more melancholic and lethargic demeanour during battles against extraterrestrial entities and spirits.
