Origin and universe – Death Note

Death Note follows Light Yagami, a gifted sixth-former who discovers a mysterious notebook belonging to the Shinigami Ryuk. Anyone whose name is written in this notebook dies, provided the user also knows what they look like.

Light quickly decides to use this power to eliminate criminals and build what he believes to be a crime-free world, gradually becoming the figure known as Kira. However, his actions attract the attention of the mysterious detective L, triggering a psychological battle that has become one of the series’ most iconic elements.
