Origin and background of the characters

Dragon Ball is one of Akira Toriyama’s major works and a cornerstone of Japanese adventure manga. The series begins as a fantastical quest for the Dragon Balls, objects capable of granting a wish when gathered together.

Son Goku is initially a naive young boy, incredibly strong and raised far from the modern world. His encounter with Bulma, a brilliant inventor searching for the Dragon Balls, marks the start of a long journey filled with encounters and comical situations. Oolong, a small character capable of transforming himself, soon joins the adventure and brings a strong sense of humour to the group.
