Son Goku is the undisputed hero of the global Dragon Ball saga, created by the late master Akira Toriyama in 1984. Sent to Earth as a baby to conquer it, this young alien from the warrior race of the Saiyans loses his memory following a blow to the head and grows up with exceptional purity of soul. Although the transformation into a Super Saiyan – characterised by golden hair standing on end and a blazing aura – chronologically only occurs much later in adulthood when facing Frieza, the "FES!!" collection takes a unique and much-appreciated stylistic liberty here. It imagines the young Goku of the early days, still clad in his iconic orange battle outfit, transcending his limits to display the iconic power of the legendary warrior.
