Origin and character background (Lore)

Frieza is a powerful alien tyrant at the head of a vast military empire. With his troops, he conquers planets, wipes out populations that resist him and sells off the worlds under his control. Fearing the potential of the Saiyans, he causes the destruction of Planet Vegeta, leaving only a few survivors scattered across the universe.

He becomes the main adversary of Son Goku and his companions during their journey to Namek, where he seeks to gather the Dragon Balls in order to gain immortality. Able to alter his appearance to conceal his power, Frieza gradually reveals increasingly dangerous forms. His clash with Goku leads to the awakening of the Super Saiyan and is one of the most iconic battles in Dragon Ball Z.
