Released in 2006, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift takes the Fast & Furious saga to the heart of the Japanese motoring scene. The film follows Sean Boswell, a young speed enthusiast who discovers a discipline in Tokyo that was then still little known to the Western public: drifting.

There, he meets Han Lue, a charismatic driver and a key figure in the franchise. Han introduces Sean to the world of Tokyo’s underground racing scene and helps him master the art of sliding a car at high speed whilst maintaining control.

Garages and car parks play a central role in the film’s visual identity. They serve both as places for preparing and modifying cars and as meeting points for the drivers and their teams. Japanese cars thus become characters in their own right, with models such as the Nissan Silvia, Nissan 350Z, Mazda RX-7 and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
