Origin and background of the character

Fist of the North Star, or Hokuto no Ken, is a seminal work of post-apocalyptic action manga. The story is set in a ravaged world where martial arts and the law of the jungle reign supreme. At the heart of this universe lies Hokuto Shinken, a deadly martial art passed down through a lineage of exceptional fighters.

Toki is one of the series’ most memorable characters. The adoptive brother of Kenshiro and Raoh, he is recognised as a master of Hokuto Shinken of exceptional talent. Unlike other, more brutal fighters, Toki is distinguished by a gentler, healing and compassionate approach to his art, using his techniques to alleviate suffering as much as to fight.
