Narrative context and universe (Lore)

In the world of the series, Himmel is the legendary warrior and leader of the Heroes’ Group. Alongside the elf mage Frieren, the priest Heiter and the warrior Eisen, he completed a ten-year quest to defeat the Demon King and usher in an era of peace. His disappearance, which occurred several decades after this feat, marks the true chronological starting point of the story.
Although the story takes place after his death, the character appears regularly through Frieren’s memories. Himmel is characterised by his selflessness, his habit of commissioning statues in his likeness so that his companions would not be left alone after his passing, and the profound impact of his actions and moral precepts on the protagonist’s subsequent spiritual journey across the continent.
