Eisen is a key character in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End(Sousou no Frieren), a manga written by Kanehito Yamada and drawn by Tsukasa Abe, which has been adapted into an animated series. In this story, which takes the perspective of the years following the completion of a classic fantasy quest, Eisen is the dwarf warrior in the group of heroes led by Himmel. Alongside the elven mage Frieren and the priest Heiter, he helped defeat the Demon King. Because he is a dwarf, he has great physical strength, great resistance to frontal attack and a longevity superior to that of humans, although he remains subject to ageing over the decades that separate the time of the original quest from the present of the story.
