Origin and character background (Lore)

In *Godzilla Minus One*, the action takes place in a devastated Japan at the end of the Second World War. As the country attempts to rebuild itself, the appearance of Godzilla plunges an already suffering population into a new and desperate situation. The film is written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki.

This incarnation of Godzilla returns with a massive, animal-like and particularly destructive appearance. His dorsal plates, rough skin and immense power make him a threat that is almost impossible to stop, but also a symbol of the trauma and hardships the characters must face in order to regain hope.
