Goosebumps, known in French as Chair de poule, is a series of horror novels for young adults created by the writer R. L. Stine. Launched in the early 1990s, it features standalone stories combining monsters, curses, haunted objects and supernatural phenomena.
*The Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb* is one of the first novels in the series. The story follows a young boy who encounters a mysterious curse whilst on a trip to Egypt, where an exploration of an ancient tomb quickly turns into a nightmare.
The novel draws on several classic elements of the mummy tale: a forgotten tomb, an archaeological secret, an ancient curse and a creature returned from the dead. As is often the case with Goosebumps, these horror elements are adapted for a young audience whilst retaining an eerie and suspenseful atmosphere.
