Directed by Joe Dante in 1990, Gremlins 2 moves the action from the snowy town of Kingston Falls to an ultra-technological skyscraper in New York, the Clamp Tower. Following an incident, the kindly Mogwai Gizmo gives birth to a new generation of creatures that are far more ferocious, intelligent and unruly. As they invade the building's various research laboratories, several monsters undergo unique genetic mutations. The Flashing Gremlin, meanwhile, takes centre stage in a comical scene in the tower's shopping centre: dressed in a mackintosh found on site, he abruptly opens up in front of Kate Beringer to surprise her, parodying the clichés of urban exhibitionists before running off giggling, illustrating the pure anarchy and satirical humour that characterise this cinematic sequel.
