Origin and lore of the symbols

At the age of eleven, Harry Potter discovers that he is a wizard and that he has been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Having been raised until then by the Dursley family, who had kept his origins a secret from him, he enters a world filled with spells, fantastical creatures and magical traditions.

The character’s most recognisable feature is the lightning-bolt-shaped scar on his forehead. It was left on him as a baby by the Killing Curse cast by Lord Voldemort. Harry survives the attack thanks to his mother’s sacrifice, whilst the Dark Lord temporarily loses his body and much of his power.

This scar also establishes a special link between Harry and Voldemort. It can react to his presence or his emotions and gradually becomes a key clue to understanding the magical bond that unites the two adversaries.

The inscription ‘Property of H. Potter’ gives the locket the appearance of a personal item bearing the wizard’s name. Combined with the lightning-bolt-shaped pendant, it allows Harry to be alluded to discreetly, without directly reproducing his portrait or the crest of a Hogwarts house.
