Parvati Patil is a witch of Indian origin and a pupil at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where she is a member of Gryffindor House. Passionate about the art of divination, she shares this interest with her best friend Lavender Brown. In 1994, she accompanied Harry Potter to the Yule Ball, whilst her twin sister, Padma Patil, attended with Ron Weasley. Although twins, the two sisters were sorted into different houses, with Padma having been sorted into Ravenclaw. As a member of Dumbledore’s Army, Parvati plays an active role in defending the school and fights alongside her sister during the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998.
