The big departure then takes place at King’s Cross station, as he passes through the secret barrier leading to Platform 9¾ to board the flamboyant Hogwarts Express, whilst savouring his first magical treats. Finally, the journey ends in the Great Hall with the Sorting Hat’s verdict, which determines each pupil’s future house and destiny.
