Product origin and background
The Enchanted Giant Chessboard is the third major underground obstacle set up by Professor Minerva McGonagall to protect the Philosopher’s Stone from Voldemort’s covetousness. To cross the room and reach the next chamber, the wizard apprentices must take the place of certain pieces and play a wizard’s version of chess according to barbaric rules where the pieces violently destroy one another. Demonstrating surgical strategic acumen and heroic bravery, it is the young Ron Weasley who takes charge of operations by sacrificing himself on the back of his stone knight to allow Harry Potter to checkmate the Black King and continue his quest.
