Origin and background of the character
Luna Lovegood is an eccentric and endearing witch who joined Hogwarts in 1992, where she was sorted into Ravenclaw House. The daughter of Xenophilius Lovegood, editor-in-chief of The Quibbler magazine, and Pandora Lovegood, she suffered the tragic loss of her mother at the age of nine in a spell-related accident. A loyal companion to Harry Potter and an active member of Dumbledore’s Army, she uses this wand, crafted by Garrick Ollivander, for most of her school years. This historic artefact was confiscated by the Death Eaters when she was captured and imprisoned at Malfoy Manor in 1998, before the famous wandmaker crafted a new one for her following her release.
