Sakura Miku is an official variant of Hatsune Miku entirely inspired by Japanese spring. Crypton Future Media describes her as a version of Miku whose appearance features cherry blossom and cherry motifs.

Her colour palette notably replaces Hatsune Miku’s characteristic turquoise with various shades of pink, directly evoking sakura in full bloom.

The official main visual for Sakura Miku was designed by KEI in 2019. Since then, the character has regularly featured in illustrations, events and merchandise celebrating the return of spring.

Sakura Miku remains closely linked to Hatsune Miku, the character associated with the voice synthesis software developed by Crypton Future Media. Thanks to the vast number of songs, illustrations and videos created by her community, Miku has gradually moved beyond her initial role as music software to become a true cultural phenomenon.

Sakura Miku’s identity has also evolved over the years. In Japan, she is regularly featured in collaborations linked to cherry blossom season and spring tourism campaigns. In 2025, for example, she was once again chosen as the mascot for the seasonal campaign bringing together Hirosaki and Hakodate.
