Discover Kuromi dressed in traditional Japanese attire with this official 24 cm soft toy from the Hello Kitty and Friends range. Kuromi retains her famous black headdress featuring two long ears topped with pom-poms. In this version, the character wears a purple kimono crossed at the front. The fabric is covered in a pattern alternating between small skulls, flowers and leaves in various shades of mauve and pink. Origin and character background (Lore)

Kuromi is a Sanrio character who first appeared in 2005 and presents herself as My Melody’s self-proclaimed rival. Her appearance is characterised by a black headdress topped with two large ears and adorned with a pink skull, the expression of which can reflect her mood.

She readily adopts a boisterous, rebellious and provocative attitude, but this image masks a much more romantic personality. Kuromi loves keeping her diary, reading romance novels and takes a particular interest in handsome boys. Her favourite colour is black and her birthday is on 31 October.

Kuromi is often accompanied by Baku, a purple tapir capable of carrying her through the air. She also leads Kuromi’s 5, a group of friends with whom she enjoys causing chaos and racing around the neighbourhood at top speed on tricycles. Despite her rivalries and mischievous schemes, she retains an endearing quality and freely expresses her emotions.

The kimono on this soft toy offers a more traditional take on her style. The flowers and plant motifs are reminiscent of classic Japanese designs, whilst the skulls, purple and black colours retain Kuromi’s gothic and mischievous identity.
