Origin and world of the character
The Pochacco character was created by the famous Japanese company Sanrio in 1989. Originally drawn by designer Minako Fukushima, this little white dog with floppy black ears quickly became one of the brand's flagship mascots, alongside Hello Kitty and My Melody. Living in Uguisu Lane, Pochacco is described as a particularly curious, clumsy and sporty puppy who loves walks and banana ice cream. The Sanrio universe is characterised by kawaii (cuteness) culture, promoting values of friendship, sharing and caring across the world. This figurine perfectly captures this joyful aesthetic, combining the character's favourite delicacy with the minimalist, instantly recognisable design that has made Japanese pop culture icons so successful.
