Character background and lore

Toothless is a Night Fury, a species of dragon long considered particularly dangerous and mysterious in the world of Dragons.

His encounter with the young Viking Hiccup profoundly changes both their worlds. After wounding Toothless, Hiccup ultimately chooses to help him rather than kill him. This decision gives rise to an extraordinary friendship that gradually transforms the relationship between the inhabitants of Berk and the dragons.

Fast, intelligent and capable of unleashing powerful plasma blasts, Toothless also stands out for his behaviour, which is often very similar to that of a cat. Curious, playful and extremely loyal to Harold, he quickly becomes one of the central characters in the saga.
