Character background and lore
Chrollo Lucilfer is the leader of the Phantom Troupe, also known as the Genei Ryodan. This criminal organisation plays a major role in the Yorknew City arc; indeed, the anime’s official website dedicates a specific section to him amongst its characters.
Chrollo immediately stands out for his extremely calm and thoughtful demeanour. Even when leading particularly violent operations, he generally maintains a composed attitude that contrasts sharply with the Phantom Troupe’s dangerous nature.
For the Brigade’s members, the group functions like a spider: Chrollo is the head, whilst the other members represent its legs. This structure explains the extraordinary loyalty that binds many of its members together.
His role becomes particularly significant when the Phantom Troupe arrives in Yorknew City, where it comes into direct conflict with the mafia and crosses paths with Kurapika.
Kurapika then pursues the Phantom Troupe members in retaliation for the massacre of the Kurta clan, of which he is one of the last survivors. This quest for vengeance places Chrollo and his group at the heart of one of the series’ most personal confrontations.
The term “Requiem” used for this figurine refers to one of the most memorable moments of the Yorknew arc: followingUvogin’s disappearance, Chrollo organises a spectacular attack on the mafia with the Brigade members as a requiem for their comrade.
The scene perfectly illustrates Chrollo’s paradoxical personality. He is capable of ordering extremely destructive acts whilst demonstrating genuine affection for the members of the Brigade.
Chrollo is also a particularly formidable Nen user. His power allows him to steal and utilise other people’s Nen abilities, provided he meets several specific conditions. This ability makes him an extremely unpredictable fighter, capable of combining different techniques depending on the situation.
His power is particularly evident in his highly anticipated clash with Hisoka. VIZ officially presents their duel as a confrontation between two fighters endowed with extraordinary abilities, after Hisoka had long sought to face Chrollo.
This Exc∞d Creative “Requiem” figurine thus highlights one of Chrollo’s most iconic traits: that of a cool and charismatic leader steering the Phantom Troupe like a true conductor amidst the chaos of Yorknew City.
