Origin and background of the character
Leorio Paradinight is one of the four central protagonists of the legendary manga Hunter x Hunter, created by Yoshihiro Togashi in 1998. Although he often speaks in a loud, impulsive manner and appears to be obsessed with money, Leorio actually hides a huge heart and unfailing generosity. Having tragically lost his best childhood friend to a treatable illness that he was unable to treat due to a lack of financial resources, he enrols in the gruelling Hunter exam with a noble aim: to obtain the official licence guaranteeing him free medical studies so that he can treat the most disadvantaged without ever asking them for a penny. Recognisable by his classic office suit, miniature sunglasses and technical briefcase, his unwavering loyalty to his friends Gon, Killua and Kurapika makes him the emotional backbone and moral compass of the group.
