Junji Ito × Hello Kitty – Gyaru Tomie × Hello Kitty – G.S. Collection figurine – 14 cm
Discover an encounter that is as elegant as it is unsettling between Junji Ito’s horror and Sanrio’s kawaii universe with this Gyaru Tomie × Hello Kitty figurine, produced by Good Smile Company. Based on a collaborative illustration, this creation combines Tomie’s supernatural charm with a host of Hello Kitty-inspired accessories.
Tomie is depicted crouching in an outfit inspired by Japanese gyaru fashion. Her long, light-coloured hair, bold make-up, jewellery and confident demeanour contrast with her calm yet slightly unsettling expression. The predominantly monochrome colour scheme echoes the aesthetic of manga, whilst Hello Kitty’s red bows add instantly recognisable splashes of colour.
The sculpture pays particular attention to small decorative details. The skirt features a grid-like effect reminiscent of a manga print, whilst the clothing is adorned with motifs imitating embroidered patches. The mobile phone, bag and various charms also feature several references to Hello Kitty.
The composition includes several small Hello Kitty mascots hanging from Tomie’s accessories, as well as a decorative base shaped like the Sanrio character’s head. The contrast between these cute elements and Tomie’s unsettling presence directly illustrates the ‘Beauty × Madness × KAWAII’ concept chosen by Good Smile Company.
This non-articulated figurine stands approximately 14 cm tall. It is supplied fully painted with its base and is part of the G.S. Collection range, a line of collectable figurines produced by Good Smile Company.

Origin and character background (Lore)
Tomie Kawakami is the central character in one of Junji Ito’s most famous works. She appears as a young woman of mesmerising beauty, recognisable by her long black hair and the mole beneath her left eye.
Tomie possesses a supernatural ability that allows her to survive normally fatal injuries and to regenerate. Fragments of her body can even give rise to new versions of herself, each of whom generally regards the other incarnations as rivals.
Her power is not limited to regeneration. Tomie also exerts an irresistible fascination over many people, who gradually become jealous, possessive or violent. This obsession often leads her admirers to attempt to kill her, triggering a cycle in which she continually returns in a new form.
The Gyaru Tomie version reimagines the character in a style inspired by gyaru fashion, characterised here by bold make-up, eye-catching accessories, a customised school uniform and a self-assured attitude. This contemporary look nevertheless retains the unsettling and manipulative aura associated with Tomie.
Hello Kitty is one of Sanrio’s most iconic mascots. Recognisable by her white face, round ears and red bow, she usually embodies a warm, friendly and colourful world.
The collaboration is based precisely on the contrast between these two identities. The Hello Kitty ribbons, mascots and accessories lend an innocent air to the composition, whilst Tomie’s expression and the monochrome treatment maintain an unsettling atmosphere. This coexistence of beauty, madness and the kawaii aesthetic lies at the heart of the figurine’s concept.
