Origin and lore

Released in 1993, Jurassic Park is a film directed by Steven Spielberg, based on the universe created by Michael Crichton. The story follows a group of visitors to a remote island home to a revolutionary park where genetically engineered dinosaurs have been brought back to life. When the security systems are compromised, the experience intended to amaze visitors quickly turns into a struggle for survival against prehistoric predators.

Among the film’s most iconic creatures are the Tyrannosaurus rex and the Velociraptors, whose appearances play a major part in building the tension and defining the franchise’s identity. Exploration, tracking the animals and the need to survive in an environment where the dinosaurs are no longer contained are thus recurring themes in the Jurassic Park universe.
