Origin and character lore

Kingdom Hearts is a role-playing game series that combines original characters created by Square Enix with the worlds and heroes of Disney. The story mainly follows Sora, a young Keyblade wielder travelling between different worlds to fight the Heartless and protect the bonds that unite people.

Roxas, Naminé and Xion play a central role in the storylines involving Organisation XIII and Sora’s memories. Axel, also known as Lea, shares a particularly strong bond with Roxas and Xion. Their shared story forms one of the most moving story arcs in the series, characterised by friendship, loss and the search for their own identities.

Terra and Aqua are two Keyblade Master apprentices introduced in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Terra wields Earthshaker, whilst Aqua uses Rainfell, among other weapons – both of which are exclusive to this collection. Donald and Goofy, meanwhile, accompany Sora for much of his journey. Their Halloween costumes come from the world of Halloween Town, inspired by the Disney film *The Nightmare Before Christmas*.
