Origin and character lore

Kirby is a little pink hero who lives on the planet Pop, mainly in the peaceful region of Dream Land. Despite his round and endearing appearance, he possesses considerable strength and regularly comes to the rescue when the kingdom is threatened by King Dadidou, creatures from outer space or other enemies with excessive ambitions.

His most famous ability is to suck up enemies and various objects using his stretchy mouth. When he swallows certain creatures, Kirby can replicate their powers and gain a copy ability: sword, fire, ice, beam, hammer or even various transformations that have appeared over the course of the series.

Kirby can also inflate his body to float in the air, allowing him to overcome obstacles and reach distant platforms. This ability, combined with his great versatility, makes his adventures accessible whilst offering numerous possibilities for combat and exploration.

The character first appeared in 1992 and quickly became one of the iconic figures of Nintendo and HAL Laboratory. His cheerful nature, love of food and courage contrast with the exceptional power he can unleash when a friend or Dream Land is in danger.
