Origin and world of the character
The character of Guritz comes from the epic fantasy world of The Lord of the Rings, imagined by the British writer J.R.R. Tolkien and masterfully adapted for the cinema by Peter Jackson. Guritz appears in the third part of the film trilogy, The Return of the King (2003). This orc of Mordor, easily recognisable by the imposing scar that crosses his pale face and his shaven head, officiates as a lieutenant under the direct orders of Captain Gothmog during the titanic battle of the Pelennor Fields. Sometimes nicknamed 'the Scarred Orc' by fans, his duties include guarding the port of Harlond and welcoming Umbar's privateer ships. His surprise is complete when he sees Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli disembark at the head of the Army of the Dead, a pivotal event that seals the fate of Sauron's forces at the siege of Minas Tirith.
