Origin and background of the character
Frodo Baggins is the main protagonist of the fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings, written by J.R.R. Tolkien and adapted for the cinema by Peter Jackson. A resident of the Shire and a member of the Hobbit race, his fate takes a dramatic turn when he inherits what appears to be a magical ring from his uncle, Bilbo Baggins. Revealed to be the One Ring forged by the Dark Lord Sauron, this artefact possesses a corrupting will of its own and seeks to return to its master to grant him absolute power over Middle-earth. Designated as the Ring-bearer, Frodo joins the Fellowship of the Ring and sets out on a journey to Mordor to cast the object into the flames of Mount Doom, the only place capable of destroying it once and for all. The base of this figurine reproduces the artefact with its inscriptions in the Black Speech engraved on the metal.
