Origin and character background

The character of Gimli is rooted in the fantasy world of Middle-earth, created by the writer J.R.R. Tolkien and adapted for the screen by the director Peter Jackson. In this work of fiction, Gimli is a highly respected Dwarf warrior and an official member of the Fellowship of the Ring.
